All choreographers receive a set piece of music with a prompt and must create one piece to showcase their creative vision. The choreographer's age determines the division — the age of the dancers does not matter, as only the choreography is judged. Choreographers may dance in their own piece. No solos allowed. Any style is welcome. Cash prizes up to R7,000.
Duration: 1:30 min – 3:00 max • Music may be edited (one section) • A title must be given to the routine
A three-round elimination battle using the organiser's music. Preliminary rounds: groups of 10–12 dance simultaneously for 1:00 min. Semi-finals: groups of 8–10 dance simultaneously for 1:00 min. Finals: face-to-face dance-off (no contact between dancers). Cash prizes up to R5,000.
Improvisational category focused on style, mastering urban techniques, variety of movements, and musicality. Music tempo varies. Acrobatic and breakdance elements allowed with caution.
